Häxan

Never, ever try to watch a film laying down after you just ate. Unless, of course, you really enjoy a long battle trying to fight off sleep. Anyway, I just got through watching the 1922 Swedish/Danish documentary, Häxan (also known as The Witches or Witchcraft Through the Ages). It was a film I’ve always wanted to watch and it just so happens that youtube had it. Häxan delves into the realm of superstition as well as mental illness which fueled the witch hunts during the Middle Ages. Scholars of history, religion, or the occult should give this a try. Oh, one more thing. Häxan is a silent film so if you’re one of those who lacks any kind of patience watching this particular style then it’s best to avoid it.
