Well, vacation time came and went and I can honestly say I wish Emma and I would have been able to stay in Gatlinburg a week more. There is so much to see and do that a week just doesn't quite cut it. But we squeezed as much as we could in what time we did have.

Apart from the sights, we actually got to stay in a cabin, thanks to my brother. Dumb ass me didn't realize that practically everyone would be heading down to Gatlinburg to see the fall color. So when the time came to book a hotel room, they were pretty much filled. Luckily my brother had room to spare and our vacation was saved. We wound up staying a few days, wowing over all the furnishings the cabin had (Believe me, there was a lot!). And once the rest of the family had to leave for home, we did eventually did manage to stay at my favorite hotel on the last day of our vacation due to the other tourists leaving (park shut down, etc. etc.).

A couple of years ago, Mum asked why I kept coming back to Gatlinburg. The amount of things to do was one. And now that I think about it, the people that worked there was the other. Everyone we ran into was so nice and I'm not talking about those we-have-to-be-awesome-so-we'll-make-money kind of folks. The politeness was very genuine. Especially in the restaurants we would frequent. Let's just say these guys were tipped well for their efforts. :)
